I kontrast till Lainio är den museala institutionen, där föremål och artefacter, röster och berättelser konserveras, kartläggs och representeras. Det är här kulturarvet görs tillgängligt och här där historia skrivs och skrivs om. Det var viktigt att arbeta med Norrbottens museum och publik där vi är intresserade av till exempel: Hur att expandera Lainio som plats och publik till museet och tvärtom? Vi är intresserade av: Vad, vilken berättelse, vems röst samlas in? Och vad sker nu? Vilka historier, föremål är framtida intressanta? Read more

Personlig koppling och intresse, vi valde Lainio för att det är den by där landets nordligaste människoboningar finns, 250 km norr om polcirkeln i Kiruna kommun, den del av Sverige som Sverige ville göra mer ”svenskt” när Finland förlorades 1809, som genomlevt både krig, rasbiologi och kulturbad. Där ryskt, norskt, finskt har präglat hantverk och byggnation. Där språkgränserna synliggörs för är det finska, samiska, kvänska, meänkieli eller svenska det talas? Det är där dagens identitetspolitik och gränser blir som luddigast – för vem gör egentligen vem till vem den är, vill vara eller kanske kallas? Marttigårdens bygdegård
Det är främst ett museum för den lokala kulturen med en mängd föremål från bondesamhällets självhushåll. I Sverige finns cirka 1400 hembygdsgårdar. I de flesta fall är hembygdsgården också en levande miljö och under året samlas Lainios invånare kring återkommande aktiviteter så som, tillagning av renslaktssoppa, konstrunda, pimpeltävling, traditionell mjölmalning, firande av fettisdagen. Hembygds(Gille) som också har varit särskilt betydelsefull för kvinnors offentliga deltagande och identitet i byarna. De har varit de som framförallt skött dessa hus, arkiverat vardagsliv och arbetsliv, de har säkrat både kulturarv och skörd genom att samla in, jämföra och ihop analysera. Read more
